The second series of the hit comedy-drama Boarders arrives on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three on Monday, 3 February, following filming at The Bottle Yard Studios and across Bristol with support from the city’s Film Office.
Filming for series two took place over 12 weeks in Summer 2024, featuring interior sets at The Bottle Yard Studios and locations across Bristol, Somerset, and Gloucestershire.
Interior sets for London-based scenes were built at The Bottle Yard Studios, while key filming locations included a Bristol school, King’s Road in Clifton (transformed into a bustling Lewisham market), and the Dove Street estate in Kingsdown, which served as Jaheim’s home neighbourhood. Additional filming took place at Berwick Lodge on Bristol’s outskirts, Badminton village and grounds in Gloucestershire, and Somerset’s Ammerdown House and Brean Theme Park.
Approximately 70% of the production crew were local, contributing to Bristol’s thriving film sector, which generated over £30m for the city’s economy in the past year. The production also supported regional talent development through traineeships and work placements, as part of the Workforce Development Programme run by The Bottle Yard Studios.
Laura Aviles, Head of Film for Bristol City Council, highlighted the importance of Bristol to productions like Boarders, “Productions like Boarders are so important to Bristol’s film sector, contributing towards an industry that last year generated more than £30m to Bristol’s economy. By engaging with our regional work to broaden opportunities to new talent, Studio Lambert’s approach is helping bring positive benefit to early-stage talent on both sides of the camera, and we were so pleased to see that local contribution celebrated at the sold out RTS West of England preview of series 2 at the Watershed last week.”
