The Avonmouth-Severnside Enterprise Area (EA) is our region’s hub for logistics and distribution. Adjacent to Bristol Port and a half-hour drive from Bristol Airport, the site provides all the global connections you need to grow your business. Close to the M4/M5 motorways, 85% of the UK’s population live within a 4.5-hour drive. The Enterprise Area is the ideal site for businesses in the warehousing, distribution, waste and energy-processing sectors. Bristol Port is the UK’s most central deep-sea port, with 67% of the UK population living within 250 kilometres.
In 2019, there were 22,500 jobs in the transportation and storage sectors in our region.
The West of England Combined Authority’s Made Smarter project will accelerate the adoption of industrial digital technologies by manufacturing SMEs. To date, the project has received £1.9 million in funding.
A recent 5G logistics project aims to show how this technology can enhance logistics management in our region. The project also sets out to improve air quality by reducing traffic congestion, whilst improving the tracking and security of goods in transit.
