The West of England’s world-leading aerospace sector has once again proven its strength. Sora Aviation, a fast-growing start-up based at Future Space, UWE, has signed a major international agreement with South Korea’s ANH Structure to co-develop the cabin and cockpit interiors for its 30-seat S-1 aircraft - a deal spotlighted at this year’s Paris Air Show.
The partnership marks a milestone moment not just for the company, but for the region’s growing capability in clean aviation and aerospace innovation - a key priority of the West of England’s industrial growth strategy.
Supported by Invest Bristol & Bath, Sora Aviation has grown its presence in the region with help finding office space, signposting to funding opportunities, and connecting with partners across the local innovation ecosystem. This hands-on support has enabled Sora to scale their ambitions and become a key player in the UK’s emerging advanced air mobility sector.
Furqan, CEO of Sora Aviation, said the “S-1 is designed to make Advanced Air Mobility truly accessible, and its wide range of missions demands a different approach to cabin layout, accessibility, and baggage handling. We're looking to develop a cabin that is comfortable and intuitive for the people who will rely on it every day.”
ANH Structure, a Tier 1 aerospace supplier with both EASA Design and Production Organisation Approvals, brings global engineering capability to the project, reinforcing the international potential of the programme.
This collaboration represents a strong vote of confidence in the region’s advanced engineering talent and reinforces the West of England’s position as a hub for sustainable aviation.
Backed by strong regional innovation assets and national government support, the deal not only supports jobs and inward investment in the South West, but also demonstrates the UK’s growing influence in shaping the future of global flight.
Aerospace firms in the West of England will benefit from £250 million in green tech funding and the removal of US tariffs - boosting jobs, trade, and innovation in a key regional growth sector.
