The West of England highlighted its strength and ambition at the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) 2025, as delegates gathered in Leeds to explore the future of sustainable growth, innovation, and investment.
The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, led by new Mayor Helen Godwin, alongside Invest Bristol & Bath and council leaders from Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, proudly represented the region at the Western Gateway Pavilion. With over 1.1 million residents across the wider region and a reputation for innovation and global collaboration, the West continues to lead the way in clean energy, creative industries, and advanced engineering.
At UKREiiF, Helen signed a Strategic Place Partnership with Homes England, which will ultimately help the region build more affordable homes for local people, working with local councils. The new mayor also met with senior officials from the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government; Chris Boardman, National Commissioner of Active Travel England; Dmitri, Mary-Ann, and Huw; the National Wealth Fund; and fellow regional mayors from across the UK.
Helen Godwin, the new Mayor of the West of England, said:
“As the combined authority region with the strongest recent economic growth in the country, the West of England is primed for further investment. We are ambitious for the future and well placed to continue to create new jobs, build new homes, and develop the infrastructure that local people need, deserve, and expect. With this week’s exciting new deal between the UK and the EU, our largest trading partner, we will have more opportunities to secure even more trade and investment.
“UKREiiF 2025 has been a real showcase of the strength, ambition, and collaboration that defines the West of England. From green tech and clean energy to advanced manufacturing and the creative industries, it’s clear we’re on the path to something huge if we unlock all of our potential. I’ve been proud to bang the drum for our region, as we look forward to a bright new chapter for the West of England.”
