Case Study: Hyperstarter

Invest Bristol & Bath are supporting new tech company Hyperstarter as they begin their settlement into the Bristol tech cluster.

Hyperstarter is an on-line “one stop shop” for businesses that want to get the very best out of crowdfunding. The company provide a range of support services, from marketing through to “hands-on”  pitching advice.

Originally created in Hong Kong and China, Hyperstarter returned to the UK and founder, Giles Dawe selected Bristol as the location to grow his business. Giles chose the city based on previous experience of the area and the knowledge that Bristol has one of the largest tech clusters in the UK, with a high success rate for start-ups. Along with these credentials the region is renowned for its incubators; innovation spaces and meet-ups.

Hyperstarter are based in entrepreneurial-spark, an incubator powered by NatWest which is located in the heart of the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone. Surrounded by other forward thinking and innovative tech companies, the move made perfect sense to Giles.

Following their engagement with Invest Bristol & Bath, Hyperstarter have made use of the team’s expert knowledge by using IBB’s connections to extend their reach.

Giles commented: “Having a resource like IBB has been helpful in making connections and getting the right support. It’s so important as a start-up to have an agency that is people centred and interested in you as a company. IBB definitely offers the personal touch.”

As a small start-up Giles is keen to grow Hyperstarter using the region’s resources – “we have an intern from the University of Bristol as the region is well placed for talent. There are four excellent universities and capitalising on that is key to business growth. The Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone will also feature a £300m new campus from the University of Bristol in 2020 which will be an amazing asset to the city.”

Moving forward, Invest Bristol & Bath will continue to work with and support Hyperstarter.

Tatjana Humphries, Senior Account Executive said: “We are able to offer a range of services to companies relocating or growing within the region. One of the things that makes us able to work so effectively with companies is our attention to detail and we strive to keep the people at the heart of all we do. We align our support to the company’s needs – that’s what enables us to have such a good network and portfolio of clients.”
