HSBC UK Bristol to move into new sustainable city centre building

HSBC UK has acquired space in EQ, Bristol’s first new build office to commit to targeting net zero carbon in operation.

Opening in summer 2023, EQ Bristol will become HSBC UK’s headquarters in the South West. The state-of-the-art building will raise the bar for colleague experience, wellbeing and operational efficiency.

The flagship office will not only become one of the bank’s most sustainable buildings across Europe but will also play a key part in supporting HSBC’s commitment to boost and drive growth across the city centre.

The bank will occupy 11,000 of the 200,000 sq. ft. building with approximately 270 employees from HSBC UK’s Wealth and Private Bank, Commercial Bank and Insurance teams moving from their current office in Temple Quay.

Facilities within the building include:

  • Unrivalled natural light and 100% fresh air using low carbon technologies, including photovoltaic units on the roof, rainwater harvesting, efficient heating, cooling and lighting systems
  • For those cycling to work, a dedicated bicycle entrance and ramp from Temple Street to the basement providing easy access to more than 263 cycle stores, a cycle maintenance station and charging points for e-bikes
  • A bright, modern ground-floor café and a roof terrace restaurant and bar with views across the city
  • Industry-leading facilities, including a gym with a full programme of classes and event space
